Those tourists that plan their trips to Slovakia next year have to take into consideration that the leaders of the European Union that have held a summit in Brussels have approved the entering of Slovakia into the euro currency zone starting from the 1-st of January 2009.

Slovakia will become the 16-th member of the euro currency zone. The prime minister of Slovakia told that his government will do it's best to increase the value of the national currency in comparison to the European till the 7-th of Jule 2008, when the exchange rate of the Slovakian krone will be fixed.

According to the words of the prime minister, this will help to soften the inevitable inflation. Today 1 euro equals to 30,35 Slovakian krone.

Other countries that pretend to enter the euro currency zone have not still fulfilled the inflation criteria. It is expected that Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Cyprus and Malta will change to European currency in 2008, in 2009 the zone enters Slovakia and Czech Republic in 2010.
