3D pictures on the USA roads

18 Jun. 2008

On the Philadelphia roads in USA there are 3-D pictures that look like obstacles for the drivers from a distance. The authorities of the American city try this way to make the drivers to obey the speed limit.

The images performed with high-tech materials usage are applied to about a hundred of the city crossroads. The drivers think that there is an obstacle in front of them as they approach the image. The pictures are quite realistic and make most of the drivers to slow down significantly before they cross such a virtual obstacle.

Besides, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) plans to perform a special investigation that is targeted to find out if such measures as these 3-D images on the roads can really help to reduce the traffic accidents and to make the drivers to obey the speed limit.
