Cruise ship sank near the shores of Greece

The sea liner "Sea Diamond" that ran onto the ground on Thursday in the Aegean Sea, finally sank. At least two persons are lost, as Greek television channels reported on Friday mourning.

From the liner were evacuated 1195 passengers and 391 crew members already on Thursday.

The liner ran against a rock or ground and got leak, that resulted the right side careen.

As the minister of the commercial marine transport Manolis Kefalogiannis said, the circumstances of the accident are being investigated.

"The governmental mechanism has done his job well, right now the situation is under total control", - was Kefalogiannis's comment to the rescue operation.

The distressed cruise liner is 143 meters long and his displacement is 22412 tons. It was built in 1986 and since 2006 the vessel is sailing under the Greek flag.
