About a thousand of Yoga followers have celebrated the summer solstice with a common group meditation in the most noisy and overcrowded place of New York - at the Times Square.
This event has been called by the organizers "Yogaphon", or the Yoga marathon - exercise under the guide of the famous tv-show presenter "Dancing with the Start" Ann Inaba took place during the whole day with only short breaks. This is probably the most peaceful activity in the history of the "Military Island", as they call this part of the square opposite to the military collection point with the "Uncle Sam" portrait. Usually you can see here military-patriotic events or on the contrary - the anti-military protests.
"We have decided to get together and to send the whole world the energy of peace, joy and quetness",- said Danny Moon - one of the active members of the event.
The Yoga followers have decided to prove that to dive into the internal world there is no need to search for solitude, expensive quiet rooms or paradises - you can do it right under the glances of gapers, under the sights of thousands of lenses of cellphones and cameras of the endless tourists flow, in the car noise and even emergency horns.
The events that took place on the Yoga island that has been placed between the traffic flows has been translated to the huge plasma monitor over the Times Square, competing with the beer, chocolate, cola and cars advertisement. Times Square is considered the optimal place for advertisement in New York. |
