New York bays will be decorated with waterfalls 26 Jun. 2008 |
|
An unusual arts project starts today in New York. The bay of the biggest city of USA and several districts of the East-river strait that washes the central district of New York - Manhattan - will be decorated from the eastern side with artificial waterfalls. The opportunity to throw a glance at the water streams falling down from the height of 30-40 meters will be presented to the citizens and the tourists by the famous Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. There will be constructed 4 waterfalls - two of them at the bottom of the East river near the Manhattan piers, the third one near of the bearings of the famous Brooklyn Bridge and the last one in the New York bay near the Governor's Island. Water will be pumped to the top of the constructions resembling scaffolding and fall down to the strait from there. |
