The streams of hot lava were headed down the slopes to the nearby located towns as the result of eruption of Llaima volcano in Chile that took place on the 1-st of July. At least 10 people are already evacuated.
According to the emergency minister Carmen Fernandez, there are about 50 people in the dangerous zone - in 3120 meters from the volcano. Evacuation will take place also in small villages 650 kilometers to the south from Santiago.
Llaima is one of the most active Chilean volcanoes. The last eruption that has caused evacuation of hundreds of tourists from the Conguillio National Park took place in January of this year. Another large eruption was in May. About 4500 of people were evacuated from the nearby located town of Chaiten and the locals were prohibited to return back to the town during three months. The streets were full with ashes and the rivers have burst the banks because of the ash pollution. |
