If you have lost you personal or business notebook with important data, photos or a collection of favorite movies in an American airport - on your own, or maybe with somebody's help - there is no need to be surprised. The visitors of the United States airports manage to (or maybe somebody helps them) lose up to 12 thousands of notebooks during a week!. This data has been published by the Ponemon Institute and Dell Computer experts. It makes up to 600 thousands of portable computers per year in the terminals and lounges of the American airports.
Most of the notebook losses happen in the airport because of the fuzz at the security control. Sometimes computers are getting lost during the meal in the airport restaurants or buffets. Or just are being left in the VIP-lounges. Less frequent these are left in the shops and registration desks.
Interesting, but more than 65% of the employees that travel on business - do not really care about the confidentiality of their information that is being stored on the notebooks. About 42% prefer not to complicate their lives with creating of the reservation copies of important files before a business trip. And most of the employees do not even think about the fact that the value of the information that is located on the hard disk of their notebook can be several times more expensive than the value of the personal computer itself. According to the specialists, the companies should pay more attention to the data protection of the mobile employees to avoid trouble or arrange a complete reform of the corporate data protection with the instruments that are present in wide variety on the market. |
