The most modern and the largest oceanarium in Germany has been opened in Stralsund. Oceanarium that costs 60 million euro became part of German sea museum. The complex consists of 39 giant aquariums with total volume of 2,5 million liters. About seven thousands of fishes, crabs and other sea inhabitants from Baltic and North seas and also from Atlantic ocean will be presented there.
In a separate hall of the oceanarium there is the largest in the world collection of natural-sized whales models. After the opening of the oceanarium, the German sea museum in Stralsund has entered the top ten of the leading scientific and educational sea centers of the world. One of the most important activity of the oceanarium will be the research of the global warming influence to the flora and fauna of the World Ocean. It is supposed that the new oceanarium will be visited by more than 550 thousands people yearly. |
