Qatar has declared himself the richest country of the Middle East

Qatar became the most wealthy state of the Middle East. According to the results of the year 2007, the annual gross income per capita made 76 thousands dollars. In 2001 this indicator made only 27 thousands dollars per capita. So, the wealth of Qatar population grew 2.8 times for the last six years.

In comparison, the gross income of the Saudi Arabia in 2007 made up 376 billion dollars, while the population of the country is 28.2 million people. Such rate of the income per capita in 2007 made up only 23.2 thousands dollars.

14% of the world natural gas is located on the territory of Qatar. According to the results of the year 2007 this country became the largest liquid natural gas producer and exporter. Besides, the total oil supplies in Qatar make up to 15 billion barrels. According to the statistical department of Qatar, the gross income of the country in 2007 made up 69.9 billion dollars for the population of 841 thousands people.

The Qatar government has stated a goal to make the country the richest one in the world. They plan to invest about 160 billion dollars in various economical sectors of the country and first of all to increase the oil and gas extraction.
