According to the analysts of the EyeforTravel Research company, during the last five years there is a real boom of the touristic product sales over the Internet in Europe.
According to the report published by the company, the increase of the online touristic market turnover volumes from the period since 2002 till 2007 has made up 41%. The total amount of money spent for the touristic product in the Internet last year has reached 50 billion euro - this indicator has been increased five times in comparison with 2002. Currently about 20% of all the touristic sales in Europe are processed via the Internet - and in 2004 this indicator was 4%.
The experts link the growth of the market firstly with the broadening and accessibility of the high-speed Internet - especially in the Eastern and Southern Europe, where the part of the population that has a broadband access to the World Wide Web makes up 22 and 13 percent correspondingly. The second important reason is the common usage of the credit cards. The online "revolution" in the touristic branch is also propelled by the "advanced" internet-users that appear to become the majority. |
