The most expensive European hotels are in Switzerland

1 Sep. 2008

A night in a hotel of Spanish capital in August was about 126 Euro in the average, while in July this indicator has been at 134 Euro. Barcelona has also experienced a slight price downturn from 165 to 158 Euro, in spite of the fact that his city is in the list of the most expensive European cities. And in the meantime the hotel prices in Seville and Valencia grew up.

The last data has been gathered by the THPI Price Index statistics. A night in the Catalonian capital in June, July and August had cost 160 Euro what is almost equal to the prices in London. The average indicator in Madrid was about 132 Euro.

The index also shows a huge gap that exists between the prices of the major European cities. For example the average price in Seville in summer is about 96 Euro, same as in Berlin. The prices of the Seville hotels have performed a sharp change from 88 Euro in July to 98 in August. Granada with the average 84 Euro per night is actually the most economic region out of the 50 that were analyzed.

On the other side, Geneva (Switzerland) is the most expensive city on the continent. The average room price in July has been there 181 Euro. It is followed by Copenhagen (Denmark) - 165 Euro per night. As a contrast comes Germany with the prices that seem to be the most economical on the continent, for example in Hannover -88 Euro and 93 Euro in Dusseldorf.
