The authorities of Austria have developed a way to fight against the drivers that are dealing with their need at the side of the road. Now there are frightening warning signs telling that there can be venomous snakes in the bushes. The initiators of the project think that the possibility to meet a snake in such a situation will make people bear it till the next toilet.
"The people are tired of the urine smell on the roadsides. We have tried to do something with it but it had no result. This is strange, because the toilets are free of charge. And the new signs have great success. You can see how a car stops, a man steps out, comes closer to the bushes and after he's seen the sign runs very quickly back, preferring to get to the next lavatory.",- say the locals.
Actually there are no snakes in these places, but the signs work, because nobody knows it. As the Austrian authorities say, the signs are mainly intended to have effect on the tourists from the Eastern Europe, who do not really respect the clean Austrian roads. That is why the warnings are written in Polish, German, Czech and English. At the top of the sign there is an exclamation sign inside of the red triangle and a black viper. |
